Attack-on-Attention: Interactive Omnidirectional Video System with Visual Effects for Online Learning
Herein, we introduce our Attack-on-Attention system, which provides omnidirectional videos of lectures with visual effects to make lecturers’ intentions clear. Although many systems support online learning with video content primarily focusing on the lecturer and a whiteboard, those approaches do not give users a sense of reality, because they consider neither the students in attendance nor the classroom environment. By contrast, our system provides omnidirectional video lectures that allow viewers to freely shift their perspectives and view the entire lecture environment: the whiteboard, the lecturer, and other students. Our system also provides several functions for online learning, including the storing, editing, and browsing of omnidirectional video lectures, so that lecture providers can customize the system depending on the lecture and students’ needs. As reported here, we conducted a comparative user test with three forms of video lectures and found the advantages of our approach for online learning.
